The last episode of "Riverdale" concludes the show's seven-season run.

In Wednesday night's season finale, "Goodbye Riverdale," Archie and the gang spent their final day of high school together. 86-year-old Betty, portrayed by Michele Scarabelli, comes upon Jughead's obituary. The only buddy still alive, she claims to her granddaughter Alice, the group "had such marvelous adventures." To recreate her childhood, she only wants to visit Riverdale one more.

She drifts off to sleep holding her high school yearbook, and when she wakes up, Jughead is an angel letting her know they can make one last trip back to Riverdale.

When Betty arrives in Riverdale, she can see Archie from her window. He's going to travel to California to join a construction team. Betty visits the house where she grew up to see her mother Alice and sister Polly. Jughead explains that their mother Alice became a pilot and that Polly (Tiera Skovbye) is expecting.

The following day, Betty goes at Riverdale High and remarks, "Everyone is so youthful and gorgeous. And unconcerned. They don't know, do they? How unique this moment is, and how fast it passes—like an instant."

Brooke and Mary had a partnership and "stayed together until the very end."

When Betty first encounters Veronica, she learns that she was born to lead a significant Hollywood studio. Clay eventually became a professor and founded an off-Broadway theatrical group, and Kevin and Clay eventually settled down together in Harlem.

Jughead was a part of Archie, Betty, and Veronica's love triangle. The four of us came to the conclusion that all we needed to do was simply be... together. simultaneously," Betty stated. "On occasion, Veronica would go with Jughead while Archie peered into my bedroom. Other evenings, I would visit Jughead's while Archie stayed the night at the Pembrooke. And occasionally, more frequently than you'd think, I would locate Veronica's.

The four pals, according to Betty, didn't stay in touch much after high school.

When she and Jughead pay a visit to Pop Tate's (Alvin Sanders) grave, they learn that Betty founded She Says Magazine and had adopted a daughter while Jughead managed Jughead's Madhouse Magazine.

Betty later passes away while sleeping.

In 2017, "Riverdale" debuted as a more gritty version of the well-known Archie Comics.
